Trail Cleaning, Wood Stocking & Moving Buildings Updates

Nov13

Folks have been out cleaning the past month and getting the trails and facilities prepped for the white stuff and then grooming can begin. We have had above 0c temperatures the past couple of weeks– we sure need frost and then snow to get our season going.

A big thank you to ANC for helping us with supplying, splitting and transporting wood into a dump trailer. In addition, CANFOR supplied us with wood for our sheds. We will be looking for help to move buildings and offload wood at the Athabasca Lookout on Saturday (November 18th) at 9:00am. Please meet at Brooks’s yard. Please let us know if you can help with either of the tasks.

Thank you to all the members who have been helping with so many activities this fall. You are appreciated!!

Don’t forget to grab a safety bin for all your safety needs out on the trails. We have everything – safety helmets with visors, chaps, glasses, ear muffs, vests, wood picks, first aide kits etc. Please contact Denis to grab a bucket – 780-778-1284.

Dear Thief

Nov06

Dear Thief:

After many attempts and some successes, we are writing you a note to say STOP. We are tired of fixing doors, handles, casings, walls, windows and replacing items that you have stolen. Every year we deal with this issue multiple times and every year we continue to ask WHY? Every time you steal split wood from our woodsheds, axes, lights and generators we get so frustrated with you. If it’s wood you need, please send us a note and we will help you when we split wood for our shed. If it’s lights-we could probably find something to help you out. Axes, well we have given you enough (yearly) and generators they are ours.

Please thief, we are a non-profit organization that is made up of volunteers with grants, sponsors and lots of hard work and we are tired of supplying you with items that are not yours.

PS:  We don’t have copper wire, fuel, liquor or other items for re-sale, so don’t come again.

BEYOND FRUSTRATED…..

Every stick of wood gone last week and last night was our Groomer Shed door was trashed. It’s a sad day.
