Trail Report December 31,2019

Trail Report – December 31,2019

We have not received any fresh snow for a couple of weeks. We are working hard to get trails cleaned on the north side. Please see details. Trails Groomed on most of the south side.

RECOMMENDATION: Please ride with care due to lack of snow. We have about 18” but could certainly use more.
TRAIL CLEANING: 90% of the trail system is cleaned we are having major issues with wet areas close to Gundy trail system – North East trails are open for sleds, but not groomed, North West on Gundy has not been done due to inability to cross Carson, Sakwatama and Chickadee with the snow cat. High water flow is not allowing ice to form at sufficient depth to cross with equipment. Trees down east of Sakwatama however, we are still working to remove fallen trees. If you are out, please use caution.
CONDITION OF TRAILS: Trails are in decent condition, but ride with caution.
HAZARDS: Numerous hazards on trails associated with low snow levels. All waterways, creeks and muskeg are not frozen. Muskegs are very wet still. If you come across ribboned areas, please use caution.
GROOMING: south side- Summit, Goodwin, Trails have been groomed. Will be grooming Bessie and Manweiler this week.
STAGING AREAS: Eagle River & Groat Creek Staging Areas are open to the public.
USE CAUTION: Please beware, that we have industry working in the south and north in various locations.
TRAIL/MEMBERSHIP PASSES: Don’t forget to buy your Trail or Day Pass prior to going out. $80 before January 1 after that they are $90. Your support helps us to groom and maintain trails. Don’t forget to pick up a Sled Raffle Ticket as well at our participating dealers and stores.

Trail Report December 20/19

Dec20

RECOMMENDATION: Season has begun!!! Please ride on the sides of the trails, not in the middle as this helps with grooming and keeps trails in better shape. We have about 18″ of snow on the trails.
TRAIL CLEANING: Trail cleaning is mostly done. The blowdown area on the Groat Creek has to be cleaned; it’s too wet to get into. If you turn north at #48 there is access to Goodwin Trail and Summit Cabin from the Groat Creek Trail. If you can take a hand saw and clear away any hangers that is helpful for the snowcat when grooming. The Snow Cat is working in the northern system area filling wet areas and ruts.
CONDITION OF TRAILS: Trails are not bad, we can always use more snow. Please use caution when riding as ruts are still present.
HAZARDS: All waterways, creeks and muskeg are not frozen. Muskegs are very wet still. If you come across ribboned areas, please use caution.
GROOMING: South side: Goodwin and Summit to Cabin from town were groomed this week. Manweiler and Bessie Trails are packed and creeks filled. North side: Has not been groomed as we are still working on it.
STAGING AREAS: Eagle River & Groat Creek Staging Areas are being opened today.

Trail Report – December 12/19

Dec18

We are finishing up trail cleaning this weekend on both sides of the trail system. The snowcat has been out on the south side packing, filling and moving oversized trees.

RECOMMENDATION: We do not recommend riding due to us finishing up trail cleaning,  snow cat work and low frost in waterways. Our snow levels are variable from 6″ to 16″ on the system.
TRAIL CLEANING: 90% of the trail system is cleaned; however, we are still working to remove fallen trees. If you are out, please use caution.
CONDITION OF TRAILS: Trails are in poor condition due to lack of snow in various places on the trail system and the trails are very rough with ATV ruts. Due to the very wet season we had this past summer, we are struggling to fill deep ruts with snow in certain areas.
HAZARDS: Numerous hazards on trails associated with low snow levels. All waterways, creeks and muskeg are not frozen. Muskegs are very wet still. If you come across ribboned areas, please use caution.
GROOMING: Trails have not been groomed yet, due to low snow levels and lack of frost.
STAGING AREAS: Eagle River & Groat Creek Staging Areas are locked and not open to the public.
EARLY BIRD DRAW FOR A TRAEGER GRILL – DECEMBER 13, 2019
