Trail Conditions
29/Jan/10
Trails north of the Athabasca have been groomed except for the Virginia Hills Loop. Snow is still skinny so exercise caution. Athabasca River is still not completely frozen so we recommend trailering to one of the staging areas. Overall trail conditions are rated as Fair. Silver Summit Trail from town to the Groat Creek Staging area remains CLOSED FOR THE SEASON due to logging activity. The southern half of the trail is very rideable and can be accessed from the Groat Creek Staging Area (County campground) south of the Groat Creek Road /Hwy32 Intersection.
13/Jan/10
Despite grooming, Silver summit Trail is in marginal condition. The remainder of the trail system remains ungroomed and in poor condition due to lack of snow and weather conditions
07Jan/10
Grooming has begun! Trail is groomed from town to the Tom Hill Tower road. The Groat Canyon Trail from the Groat Creek Staging area has also been groomed. Grooming on trails north of town will commence as snow conditions improve. Snow is still skinny throughout the area so use caution.
